Comet C/2001 Q4 (NEAT)

Description:

This comet was very low in the southwest this evening. Not a naked eye object, but very bright and large in a telescope. The comet was discovered in 2001 by the Near Earth Asteroid Tracking program on Mount Haleakalah in Maui, Hawaii. It will gradually rise in the sky throughout May of 2004.

Takahashi TOA-130 5" apochromat refractor telescope, SBIG STV, Canon 10d digital camera.

Processing Used:

three 2-minute unguided images @ 800 ISO, combined in Images Plus (average combine, digital development) and further processed in Photoshop
